How do I make myself available to receive walk requests?
You will always be able to receive walk requests for walks scheduled more than an hour into the future. For "on-demand walks," you will need to make sure you turn on this feature. When you're ready to receive on-demand walk requests from nearby clients, go to your Walker Settings tab and turn on 'Accept On-Demand Walks.'
You will get a notification, similar to a text message, when you receive any walk requests. To accept it, tap the Accept button on the Walk Summary screen. For on-demand walk requests, you will have 3 minutes to accept it, otherwise it will send a response to the client that you are unavailable. For future scheduled walk requests, you will have 15 minutes to accept the request.
If you do not want to accept the walk request, you can select the Deny button on the Walk Summary screen. Tapping the Deny button will send the walk request to a different walker in the area. This can be useful if a request comes in while you're preparing to go offline. Watch the video above for a more detailed explanation.
How do I know if I have a walk request?
Whenever someone requests you for a walk you will receive a notification from our app similar to the way you get a text message. Make sure the People Walker app is allowed to send you notifications so you don't miss any walk requests!
To allow notifications to be sent to you;
- Go to your phone settings,
- Press the People Walker app,
- Press notifications
- Make sure the toggle is switched to green (on) to allow notifications
Once your notifications are on, walk requests should be sent to your phone, where you can ACCEPT or DENY walk requests.
You can also see walk requests, upcoming walks, and past walks in your Walker Profile Section, or in the Notifications Tab in the app. Watch the video above for a more detailed explanation.
What happens after I accept a walk request?
If you accept a walk request, then a line of communication opens between you and your client. You can send messages to your client from the Walk Summary page for that specific walk. We recommend messaging your client to let them know how long it will take you to meet up with them, and figure out any other details for your meet up. Watch the video above for a more detailed explanation.
How do I start and complete a walk request?
Once you have met up with your client, all you have to do it hit Start The Walk button. This will begin the timer, route and distance tracker on the app. It is important for you to keep track of the walk time and route. The app does not automatically end the walk at the end of the paid time limit. Once you have finished your walk, all you have to do is hit the Complete Walk button. Once completed, the client will be prompt to leave a review and to add any tip amount to your walk. You will also be prompt to rate and review the client. A summary of your walk will be saved in your My Walks tab. Watch the video above for a more detailed explanation.
